Generative-AI literacy is rapidly becoming a core component of research-methods teaching in higher education. Studies reported in the literature show educators moving beyond prohibitions and instead training students to use tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Elicit and document that use explicitly in the methodology.
The emerging consensus is that transparent disclosure of prompts, model versions, parameter settings, human edits and verification preserves academic integrity and gives assessors insight into students’ procedural knowledge.
